• Rename. Rename the file to end in INFECTED.

• Quarantine. Quarantine the file. (More on quarantines.)

• Disinfect. Clean the file of viruses.

• Delete. Delete the file.

 

The first action on the list is the primary action and it represents how you want infected files to be handled. Any other remaining actions will act as backup.

• To remove an action from the list, select it and click Remove. (There must be at least one action.)

• To add an action back onto the list, click Add and then select it from the drop-down list.

Select the check box to include data that is stored in archive files in scanning; clear it to exclude archive files.

 

Common archive types include ZIP, CAB, ARJ, TAR, and others.

A packed executable is a compressed executable file. It includes the decompression code needed to run the executable. In addition to reducing file size, packed executables can be used to hide malware from antivirus scans.

 

Select the check box to include packed executables in scanning; clear it to exclude packed executables files.

A self-extracting file decompresses itself when executed. Self-extracting files are often used to transmit software over the Internet because they conserve disk space and reduce download time.

 

Select the check box to include self-extracting files in on-demand scanning; clear it to exclude self-extracting files.

You may wish to exclude certain folders from scanning.

As a default, the check box is cleared and the artificial intelligence feature is not enabled.

 

Select the check box to turn on the feature. Clear the check box to turn it back off.

As a default, the check box is cleared and macro variants are not flagged as infections.

 

Select the check box if you want to treat macro variants as infections and have them reported on the various windows and statistics used by the antivirus.

Note: This option controls whether or not macro variants are reported. To control whether or not iolo AntiVirus performs some action with a macro variant, see "Disinfect macro variants" below.

As a default, the check box is selected. For detected macro variants, iolo AntiVirus will follow the same actions set in the "When an infected file is found" field (described above).

 

Clear the check box if you do not want the antivirus to perform any actions with detected macro variants.

This check box is selected as a default and remote templates are ignored from scanning. This is the recommended setting.

 

Clear the check box to have remote templates included in scanning. Note that this could result in legitimate document templates being flagged.
